Amber D. McEachern, PhD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (NM#1190) and founder of The Oak Bower, LLC.

Dr. McEachern has over 15 years of clinical experience in providing mental health services to children,

adolescents, and adults in individual and family therapy formats.

Dr. McEachern earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in psychology (minor in Spanish) from Wichita State

University. During this time, she had the opportunity to work in the lab of Dr. Jim Snyder, studying the

longitudinal development children. This work continued in the next few years, as Dr. McEachern continued

her studies and research, earning her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology with an

emphasis on Community Psychology. While earning her degrees, Dr. McEachern worked as a supervised

therapist at South Central Mental Health Counseling Center.

Dr. McEachern was selected as a predoctoral intern at Boys Town, providing services to the youth and

families there while completing her graduate studies. Following internship, Dr. McEachern competed

two postdoctoral internships, both focused on the efficacy of interventions with youth and adolescents (The Family Check-Up at the University of Oregon, and Motivational Interviewing at The Mind Research Network at the University of New Mexico). Dr. McEachern then spent 7 years working with active duty military members USAF. Throughout her training and work experience, Dr. McEachern has been invited and presented at a number of conferences and professional meetings, and has over a dozen publications in peer reviewed journals, manuals, and edited books.

Dr. McEachern’s clinical experience has covered a wide range of mental health diagnoses and treatment modalities. Her experience is based primarily in the application of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavior Modification techniques, and Motivational Interviewing to diverse issues to include aggression and conduct problems, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, and adjustment disorders. Dr. McEachern has received specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Habit Reversal, Adolescent Community Reinforcement, Motivational Interviewing, The Family Check-Up, Parent Management Training, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
